iMindMap is an application which allows you to create MindMaps on a computer
Mind Mapping, pioneered by Tony Buzan was originally aimed at students as an efficient
replacement for traditional note taking. Over the years, it has found a place in
the business community as a tool to aid creativity. Watch a video about Mind Mapping
with Tony Buzan here
Traditional Mind Maps are drawn on paper using coloured pens. They have some limitations
which iMindMap overcomes:
- The personal nature of keywords and images makes sharing a traditional Mind Map difficult
unless the author is present to interpret its meaning. IMindMap overcomes this limitation
by allowing notes to be attached to branches and the use of predefined symbols,
icons etc.
- The map size is not restricted to the confines of a large sheet of paper or a whiteboard.
- You don’t need a collection of felt tip pens and highlighters to draw a map.
- The map can be reorganised on screen. To reorder the branches of a traditional Mind
Map, you have to create a new map from scratch.
- When using a traditional Mind Map for a writing project or a presentation, you would
have to type everything into the application used for the final output e.g. Word
, PowerPoint. With iMindMap the map and accompanying notes can be exported to other
applications.
